Observatory Parlor, Native Sons of the Golden West, is one of the older f= raternal benevolent organizations in Santa Clara county, having been chartered in 1891.

Observatory Parlor’s Annual Family PicnicMembers & the public are cordially invited to participate in the Observatory Parlor’s Annual Family Picnic Sunday, June 22, 2008 at the Lost Valley Ranch, San Jose.

This is a really unique opportunity for family and friends to enjoy the wholesome outdoors so close to home. There is swimming in a clear-water pond for the children. The water= is no more than 4 feet deep. (Water shoes are recommended). Horseshoes are available for the adults. You can roam the wide-open range or lay back on a blanket and snooze. This is a prepaid event = with a nominal fee of $10/adult, $7/12 through 18, $5/children 6 through 11 and free for kiddies 5 and under. Your ticket includes a dinner, soft drinks and dessert. The barbeque feast will be served about 1:15 p.= m. Beer and wine can be purchased for $2. Free BINGO will be played in= the afternoon. This is a free event for the Benjamin Club members.

Send your che= ck made out to the “Observatory Parlor No. 177 NSGW & note “Picnic” – mail to P.O. Box 5994, San Jose, CA 95150-5994. Please note the number of adults, youths, and children = that will be attending (children 5 and under - no cost). Tickets will be mailed to you promptly. Reservations must be made by June 16.

Gates open at 11:00 a.m. Pi= cnic ends at 4:00 p.m. Remember that dogs and any type of firearms are prohibited. Please call Angela Athans (408-225-7576) with any questions.

DIRECTI= ONS TO LOST VALLEY RANCH:

From Ca= pitol Expressway (East), turn right on Silver Creek Road, turn left on Yerba Bu= ena Road to San Felipe Road South to the fork (Los Animas Road). Take t= he fork to the right on Los Animas Road and follow the county signs to the U= TC truck entrance. Make a left turn and go through the gate, which is = just before the UTC truck entrance gate and follow the dirt road through the h= ills to the picnic grounds. NSGW signs will be posted. PLEASE CLOSE ANY GATES THAT YOU OPENED.

For those com= ing from Metcalf Road (off Monterey Road), take a right on San Felipe Road to= Los Animas Road (quarter mile), take the fork to the right and follow the cou= nty signs to the UTC truck entrance. Then follow directions above.
