· Member of the Month
This newsletter is in honor of Bro Richard Aust. Dick is a Veteran of the Marine Corps having served in Korea, Viet Nam, Italy and the Dominican Republic. A Past Noble Humbug of Mountain Charlie Chapter 1850, E. Clampus Vitus, he actively supports both Observatory Parlor 177 and the Clampers. His sphere of influence is such that he rallied the support of this year’s Cook Crew and has otherwise greatly contributed to the growth of those attending our monthly dinner meetings. Richard, we appreciate and thank you for your continued interest and support!
· Wednesday, April 18th - Next Dinner Meeting
Our Parlor’s next meeting is Wednesday April 18th and our Cook Crew is promising a special BBQ steak dinner. Bring along your new members, their applications, your raffle tickets and donations solicited. Also, bring your aluminum cans & toss them in the back of the white Ford pick-up! Dinner assessment is $7.50 with Benjamin Club Members being admitted free! We ask, where can one find a free steak dinner these days? Come and join the fellowship!
· Parlor’s 90 Day Membership Drive
Months of March, April & May marks our Parlor’s Membership Drive. While the Parlor is doing well financially we lack a growth in membership that is the life’s blood of all organizations. As an incentive - if one introduces six new members in the above months, your own membership dues will be waived next year If you bring in three new members $15 will be applied to next year’s dues (dues credits will not apply if your sponsored member does not remit a membership renewal next year).
· Parlor’s Cleft Palate Fund Raising Event & Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner Dance of March 21st – a big success!
Co-Chaired by Ernie Rose and Bill Barry this event was a huge success! About eighty attended to listen & dance to the music of Doug Rose & his Western Musicians. There were many, many, many, door prizes and donations. All appeared to have a great time! The following businesses also contributed to the event: Albertson’s, Blossom Hill Optical, Branham Lounge, Doug Rose Productions, Orchard Hardware Supply, Pearl River Restaurant, Safeway Inc, and Whole Foods Markets. A grant was also received from The San Jose Water Company’s Employees’ Community Fund. To all those mentioned above, we sincerely thank you for supporting our Parlor’s contribution to the Grand Parlor’s Charitable Foundation that supports free corrective surgery to un-insured infants inflected with cranial anomalies (Cleft Palate, Hair Lip, etc.)
Receipts are being deposited to supplement those realized at our March 21st event in order to create a Parlor Cleft Palate Perpetual Trust Fund so as to increase our Parlor’s annual contribution. For the first time in our Parlor’s recent history we will give a $1,000 donation to our elected delegates who will in turn present Observatory Parlor’s donation to Grand Parlor Charitable Trust Fund in May, leaving a balance (inclusive of prize monies) in our own Trust Fund. Please mail your raffle stubs and solicited donations today to PO Box 5994, San Jose, CA 95150-5994. If you may not be interested in soliciting donations, please, please return your book of raffle tickets to the above address. All being numbered, we have to account for each of the 900 tickets! So far we have collected $2,300 with a need to collect an additional $2,200 for a total of $4,500. Drawing for the $2,500 in prize monies will be conducted at our Tom & Jerry Dinner event on December 19th.
· May 16th Event – Brazen Hussies!!!

This will be a sit down dinner and several gorgeous gals serving us (we have assured the gals serving that we are gentlemen & they will not be offend by any spoken words – impulsive members found in violation of our assurance will be asked to leave)
